Shengtian Zheng - Managing Editor

Zheng is a respected artist, curator, and scholar, and the Managing Editor of Yishu - Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art. Formerly a professor at the China Academy of Art, he has played a key role in fostering cultural exchange between China and the West. Based in Vancouver since 1990, Zheng has curated major international exhibitions and remains a leading voice in contemporary Chinese art.

Yishu - Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art

The first English-language publication dedicated to contemporary Chinese art. Founded in 2002 and based in Vancouver, Yishu featured over 500 artists and published interviews, and commentary that spotlight the ideas and practices shaping Chinese art today. It serves as a vital platform for international dialogue and scholarly exchange.

Violinist - Yezu Woo

Yezu Woo is an acclaimed violinist who debuted at Carnegie Hall at 16 with all 24 Paganini Caprices. A Fulbright Scholar, she has performed at top venues, recorded with EMI and ECM, and blends classical, contemporary, and Korean traditions. She directs the New York in Chuncheon Music Festival.

Jiechang Yang

Yang JieChang is a groundbreaking contemporary artist whose career bridges ancient ink and Zen philosophy with global modernity –an evolution from abstract ink to potent figurative commentary on power, violence, and transcendence.

 

Martina Köppel Yang 

is a trailblazing independent art historian and curator whose work bridges East and West. Her dynamic approach transforms ink and calligraphy into immersive, cross-cultural experiences that transcend borders.

 

Shengtian Zheng

Zheng Shengtian is a renowned Chinese-Canadian artist, scholar, and curator whose six-decade career has shaped global art discourse. From 1950s socialist muralism to cross-cultural exchange across North America, Europe, and Latin America, his legacy bridges continents through groundbreaking exhibitions, teaching, and artistic dialogue.

 

Diana Freundl

Diana Freundl is a visionary curator whose global journey—from studying in Beijing and Taiwan to shaping public art in Vancouver—illuminates the intersections of culture, craft, and connection.


Masterworks from a Private Collection

This exclusive exhibition presents a curated collection of masterpieces by global icons from Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall, and Paul Signac, alongside contemporary visionaries Cai Guo-Qiang, Yang Jiechang, Feng Xiao-Min and emerging artists like An Xiaotong, Hao Jingfang & Wang Lingjie, and Pascale Marthine Tayou.
